Campus HR Colleagues:
Kudos to all of you on your efforts to forge ahead with an array of challenges facing our campus – and using communities of practice and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and capacities to do so! We celebrate the recent launch of two new CoP’s: Workforce Relations CoP and Onboarding CoP both started in June with excellent attendance and energy. These are new types of efforts, where staff across campus are coming together with OHR to discuss key challenges around specific roles, policies, and priorities. Both groups have already identified several issues on which to address, and are looking forward to their learning together in the months ahead.
We also celebrate the two-year anniversary of the “HR Design/Academic Units CoP” co-facilitated by Julie Karpelenia and Carol Hillmer – kudos to that dedicated group, which has become an essential space for discussing concerns, vetting potential solutions, and otherwise testing new initiatives… including the “Welcoming HR Professionals” series and resources that resulted from their efforts.
Although the pace and tone of summer is a bit less frenetic than much of the academic year, it is clear that HR and Payroll professionals across campus are engaged in much important work… thanks for your continued efforts.
