University of Michigan’s HR Strategist Dyan Jenkins-Ali: 2019 HR@UW Conference Keynote

UW–Madison’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) and University of Michigan University Human Resources (UHR) continue to partner—following OHR’s July visit to the Michigan campus.

Dyan Jenkins-AliHR CoP director Lynn Freeman invited Michigan HR Strategist Dyan Jenkins-Ali to deliver the keynote at the 2019 HR@UW Conference on December 3. As a strategist, Jenkins-Ali helps her organization focus their resources to ensure that key initiatives are successful.  She’ll dedicate her keynote to exploration of the conference theme: Driving Successful Change.

University of Michigan is one of the only other higher education institutions that dedicates HR staff to the communities of practice model. Former director Harry Webne-Behrman began conversations in May 2016 with Michigan’s HR CoP staff to explore the possibility of a learning visit between the two institutions. All worthwhile things take time—and this learning visit was no exception.

Darrell Washington, senior HR representative of Michigan’s HR CoP, reached out in April of this year to Sarah Carroll of OHR’s HR CoP team to invite OHR staff to visit in July. The invitation was prompted by their plan to host HR legend David Ulrich at a learning event at Michigan’s Ross School of Business. OHR’s HR CoP Office incorporates Ulrich’s work in the HR Competencies Program, making the visit doubly exciting.

Each met with University of Michigan HR staff from among the following offices:

OHR is excited to continue building partnership with HR at University of Michigan—and is looking forward to having Dyan Jenkins-Ali kick off this December’s conference.
