Be a Tutor

If you are a UW employee, student, or community member, you can apply to be a tutor.

As a tutor, you must:

• work with your learner at least 1-2 hours per week, for at least 1 semester
• find resources and strategies to help your learner work toward learning goals
• report tutoring hours every month

Tutors can get free training from statewide nonprofit Wisconsin Literacy.

How to apply

1. Go to VolunteerMatters
2. Follow the registration instructions
3. Program coordinator Jzong Thao will contact you after you register.
4. Jzong will match you with a learner based on schedule, location, and other preferences.
