What to expect when attending a professional development course
Course format
You can expect a peer-supported collaborative environment that will be highly interactive, including small group activities and discussions. Participants will share challenges and work together to problem-solve, share perspectives, brainstorm, innovate, and network.
This is a committed group for a short time. Attendance and participation are required for each session.
Who should attend?
SMME is limited to participants who are people managers.
UW–Madison supervisors or managers of staff, who:
- Conduct performance conversations
- Oversee the work of others
- Hire new employees
- Onboard new employees
- Make decisions about the time and work of others
- Encourage professional development of others
