Overview:
All job profiles in Workday have a defaulted position cap value. In certain situations, the default position cap value needs to be updated after a hire is made.
Security Roles:

When to Update the Position Cap Value:
The cap value should be changed from the default to match the position cap value based on job responsibilities. Two situations that require updating the cap value to align with job responsibilities include:
- If the default cap value is 'Funding Review Needed'
- If attesting the job responsibilities should exempt the position from the cap and the SJD is not automatically exempted
Note: Updating the Position Cap Value on a position will not change the default Position Cap value on the Job Profile. These changes will not trigger any approvals.
Step 1: Locate the Position | After the job requisition is closed or filled, in the search bar at the top of screen, type "Position:" followed by the eight-digit Position number you're looking to edit.

Either on the search results or the Position page, click the Related Actions button (...) then Position > Edit Position Restrictions. |

On the Edit Position Restrictions page, select Update Position Cap Value > Update Position Cap Value for the Position Change Reasons field. Make the appropriate selection on the Difficulty to Fill field. |
