Refer a Friend to Work with Bucky

Overview

Anyone can refer someone to a UW-Madison job. If you are a current employee, ensure you get the credit for referring talent by doing so in one of these ways:

Refer a Friend form

Use the Refer a Friend form on the Jobs at UW job posting.

The form prompts the referring employee to provide their name, email address, and the name and email address of the individual they wish to refer.

When the referring employee completes the form and clicks Send, a confirmation message appears:

The referral and referring employee will receive an email confirmation:

The referred individual should apply using the same email address that was used to submit their referral. This allows Workday to correctly tag them with the employee referral indicator in the candidate grid. If the hiring unit has a referral bonus program, the referring employee may then be eligible for a bonus.

If the referred individual uses a different email address, Workday will not automatically recognize the referral. The individual should then select that they were referred by a current employee before submitting their application:

The individual you wish to refer should select the option indicating they were referred by a current employee.

HR enters referral information

If the referral was not captured during the application process, Recruiters can manually enter it (or edit an existing referral) in Workday.

From the candidate profile, click Actions, hover over Job Application, and click Edit Job Application:

Choose the employee's relevant application:

Edit the Source and Referred by fields:

The Referral indicator now appears under the applicant’s name in the candidate grid:

Referral Bonus

If the hiring unit has a Referral Bonus Program, the Hiring Manager and Recruiter should note when a finalist was referred to a job by a current employee. They should then coordinate with the referring employee’s Division HR to determine referral bonus eligibility and payment.
