Midpoint Evaluation – Job Aid for Employees

These steps describe the employee actions during a Midpoint Evaluation in Workday. For more information visit the Performance section in the HR Guides for Employees.

Step 1: Open Your Self-Evaluation in Workday

  1. Log into Workday
  2. Locate the task titled "Self Evaluation: Midpoint Evaluation Staff - 2026: Your Name." You can find the task in two places:
    1. Listed in "Awaiting Your Action" on your Workday homepage
    2. Listed in your Workday inbox
  3. Click to open the task.

  4. Click "Get Started".

Step 2: Complete Self-Evaluation for Job Responsibilities

  1. Review each job responsibility listed. These should be the same as your last review. Do NOT make changes. Talk to your supervisor if you have concerns.

  2. Rate your performance using the rating dropdown for each job responsibility. Use the following ratings and definitions:
    1. Exceeding Expectations - Performance consistently exceeds the communicated expectations.
    2. Meeting Expectations - Performance consistently meets the communicated expectations. 
    3. Partially Meeting Expectations - Performance does not consistently meeting the communicated expectations.
    4. Failing to Meet Expectations - Performance is consistently below expectations and/or reasonable progress has not been made.
    5. Not Applicable - Unable to rate because performance is not currently expected in this area.

  3. Add comments to support your rating. (optional)

  4. Select "Next."

Step 3: Complete Self-Evaluation for Goals

  1. Review each goal and description listed. These should be the same as your future goals from the last review and may include new goals for the future. Do NOT make changes to the content included. Talk to your supervisor if you have any concerns.

  2. Select a status for each goal using the status dropdown. Use the following statuses: 
    1. Not Started
    2. In Progress
    3. Completed

  3. Add comments to support your status and progress. (optional)

  4. Select "Next."

Step 4: Upload Supporting Documents

  1. Add supporting documents by either dragging and dropping files into the gray square or clicking "select files" to chose files to import. (optional)  Added documents should highlight accomplishments, growth and/or performance.

  2. Select "Next."

Step 5: Midpoint Overall Evaluation and Rating for Non-Primary Job

  1. Select "Next" if you do NOT have a second job at UW. This page will show additional steps if you have more than one job at UW.
  2. If you DO have more than one job at UW follow the prompts and then select "Next."

Step 6: Review and Submit

  1. Review the information you have provided for accuracy. When done, select "Submit."  Selecting "Submit" will complete your self evaluation and send your responses to your supervisor. Workday dashboard with call out box indicating 'Submit' button at bottom center of screen.

Step 7: Manager Evaluation and Discussion

  1. After you submit your self evaluation:
    1. Your supervisor will complete their evaluation of your performance
    2. Your supervisor will meet with you to discuss your Midpoint evaluation
    3. You will receive the task in step 8.

Step 8: Open the Provide Employee Review Comments Task

  1. Log in to Workday
  2. Locate the task titled "Performance Evaluation Employee Acknowledgment". You can find the task in 2 places:
    1. Listed in 'Awaiting Your Action' on your Workday homepage
    2. Listed in your Workday inbox
  3. Click "Get Started".

  4. Review your performance evaluation content, including your supervisor's review and your self evaluation. Then select "Next." Workday dashboard with call out box indicating 'Next' button in bottom center.
  5. Acknowledge you have received your performance evaluation information by selecting the dropdown option. Workday dashboard with call out boxes indicating acknowledgement button and comment box.
  6. Add comments. (optional)
  7. Submit your acknowledgment. 

Step 9: Completed Evaluation

  1. After you submit your acknowledgment, your supervisor will also acknowledge completing the performance evaluation. 
  2. The process is then complete. You have access to your completed evaluation in your Workday profile.
