Form I-9 Overdue Reasons

Overview

Section 2 must be completed within three business days of the employee’s first day of employment. If not, Workday will require the I-9 Coordinator to provide an overdue reason.

The following are the overdue reasons and when to select each reason:

  • Audit Revealed that New Hire Was Not Run - If an audit revealed that Form I-9 or a rehire date was missed.
  • Awaiting Response on Case Created with Incorrect Information - Should not be used as this is specific to E-Verify.
  • Awaiting Social Security Number - Should not be used as this is specific to E-Verify.
  • Federal Contractor with E-Verify Clause Verifying an Existing Employee - Should not be used as this is specific to E-Verify.
  • Other
    • Employee did not provide valid identity and work authorization documents within three business days.
    • Provide the above verbiage as the reason.
  • Technical Problems - If Form I-9 was not completed due to a Workday outage.
