Student Hourly Add Additional Job

This KB details how to add an Additional Job (concurrent) for Student Hourly employees in the following Job Profiles:

  • SH001-Student Help
  • SH004-Student Help Residence Hall 

Who Can Initiate?

HR Executive (Local), HR Executive (Supervisory), HR Partner (Local), HR Partner (Supervisory), HR Process Coordinator (Supervisory) UW, and the Student Hourly Process Coordinator UW 

Student Hourly Add Additional Job

  1. From the Workday Home Page, search for and select the name of the student employee in the search bar.

  2. From the Workers Profile, click Actions.

  3. Hover over Job Change and select Add Job.

  4. Select the Supervisory Organization for the new job.

  5. Click OK.

    • Note: Salary and FTE information for the Primary job will pop-up

  6. Enter an Effective Date.

  7. Select a Reason: Add Additional Job > New Position

  8. Enter the fields in the Job Details section:

    • Employee Type: Temporary (Fixed Term)

    • Job Profile: SH001, SH004

    • Time Type: Part Time

    • Location: Building Code

    • Optional: Work Space

    • Pay Rate Type: Hourly

    • Note: Some of the Job Details section may autofill.

  9. Confirm/Enter the fields in the Working Time section:

    • Scheduled Weekly Hours: will populate as 40 and must be updated to 0 hours.

    • Working FTE: Leave Blank for SH

    • Optional: Work Shift

  10. Confirm/Enter the fields in the Additional Details Section:

    • Job Title: Student Help

    • Business Title

    • Annual Work Period: Leave Blank for SH

    • Disbursement Plan Period: Leave Blank for SH

    • Optional: Additional Job Classifications

      • Enter Work Study Job Type information in this section (if applicable)

    • First Day of Work: Will pull in from Effective Date

    • End Employment Date: Enter an End Date for the job

    • Optional: Exclude from Headcount

  11. Confirm/Enter the fields in the Organization Assignments section:

    • Optional: Assign Default Organization Assignments checkbox

    • Cost Center

    • Legacy: Leave Blank for SH

    • Function

    • Campus Security Authority

    • Compensation Basis: 12 Month for SH

    • Position of Trust

  12. Optional: Enter a Comment.

  13. Optional: Add any Attachments.

  14. Click Submit.

    • Note: Click Save for Later if you would like to save your current progress before exiting the task

Next Steps

Additional tasks are required to complete the Add Additional Job business process. The subsequent tasks may include Propose Compensation, Assign Costing Allocations, Switch Primary Job, or Manage Probation Period.

Typically, approvers receive a Workday Task to Approve, Deny or Send Back the task. An approver must provide a reason for sending the task back.
