Workday organizes information about security roles around organizations and positions. Most HR security roles are assigned by Supervisory Organization, but some are assigned by other organization types, including Academic Unit, Company, Location Hierarchy, and Pay Group. This article provides a list of common organization type abbreviations that can be used in the Assign Roles Business Process, as well as lists of these common organizations at UW-Madison and their Reference IDs. Using the Reference ID makes it easier to search for and select the intended organization when requesting a role assignment.
