Message from the Director

Dear Colleagues:

It was wonderfully satisfying to participate in the concluding session of our Pilot “HR@UW Learning Cohort,” which I co-facilitated with Sarah Carroll. The outpouring of gratitude from the members of the group was especially touching, as they noted the meaningful ways in which this learning experience had allowed them to connect with one another. For me, it was also clear how much participants had grown in their own sense of confidence and awareness of resources by which they can continue their professional development and growth on this campus. Kudos to Kyle Brown, Dawn Graham, Shira Hand, Mary Hegge, Kathy Mather, Melissa Ortiz, Nancy Parkinson, Bethany Pluymers, Todd Schry, Chrystin Schultz, Dawn Wagner, and Amanda Woodward for their dedication to this learning experience these past seven months, and their perseverance in helping us all learn about how best to structure such experience for those who follow. And special kudos to Sarah Carroll, HR Competencies Coordinator, for her dedication in making this a rich and rewarding experience for all. We are recruiting a new Cohort to begin in mid-October, and it is now with the knowledge that this initial group will remain available as resources to the 2017-18 Cohort – please seriously consider getting involved in this important learning opportunity!

We are now well along in our recruitment and selection of a new HR-CoP Director. Please look for announcements of Finalists Presentations later this month, and please try to take a few minutes to come over to 21 N Park for those presentations. Your participation and feedback is important here; we are committed to building a sustainable and robust professional development program through the HR-CoP Office, and making sure we have the right person in this leadership role is an essential element. I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Harry
