  • Job Summary:
    Collaborates with unit leadership to plan and provide direction for the administrative, academic, and outreach operations of one or more centers and the operational unit that oversees a group of centers, ensuring alignment with the university's mission. Directs administrative oversight to advance center goals and objectives, ensures resource allocation supports the center's objectives, and manages a team of professionals who support the center.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Directs, implements, and monitors strategic planning initiatives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
    • Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing organizational information and representing the interests of the unit
    • Provides leadership and oversight in financial operations including developing and administering budgets and oversight of grants management, contracts, and other funds to ensure adherence to accounting practices and compliance with sponsor rules, regulations, and law
    • Serves as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) for grants related to teaching, research, and/or outreach
    • Consults with faculty, staff, teachers, and students to develop programming for diverse audiences. Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program activities
    • Oversees communication and marketing of center activities, accomplishments, and philanthropic activities, including pursuing new sources of grant funds, meeting with and engaging potential donors, and developing an advancement agenda
    • Produces works of academic scholarship
    • Collaborates with faculty members to develop academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure, including operational and logistical arrangements
    • Partners with Center Administrator and other senior leaders to advance the Center/Institute to a position of academic and professional distinction by fostering excellence in all programs and maintaining, supporting, and successfully renewing appropriate federal, state, and local designations and accreditations
