  • Job Summary:
    Plans, directs, and provides administrative, operational, and strategic leadership for one or more recognized divisions or areas of responsibility under the purview of the Office of the Provost. Serves as a member of university leadership and makes decisions in the absence of the Provost.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Provides leadership for one or more recognized divisions or areas of responsibility by establishing strategic direction and setting priorities that align with the strategic directives of the Office of the Provost and ensures effective carrying out of duties that best support the institution's initiatives, strategic direction, and academic mission
    • Advises and collaborates with the Provost and/or other Vice Provosts on critical issues, representing the division(s), areas of responsibility, and/or Provost at appropriate meetings and events as requested, and serves on and/or leads various divisional and/or university committees
    • Oversees on-going assessment and continuous improvement of one or more divisions or areas of responsibility by guiding the establishment of annual goals, ensuring progress towards goals is met, articulating challenges and reporting on annual outcomes and achievements
    • Serves as the primary point of contact to the Provost and senior campus leaders regarding one or more recognized divisions or areas of responsibility, facilitating communication and coordination of effort
    • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
    • Builds consensus and develops collegial, collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, partners with administrative and academic departments to support initiatives, and gathers input from key stakeholders to support recommendations
    • Leads special initiatives and/or funded programs that require the Provost's attention with respect to program design, planning, coordination, and interaction with internal and external stakeholders
    • Monitors compliance with laws/regulations, university policies and procedures, and relevant contractual obligations
    • Serves on various university review committees, working with a wide range of constituencies including the Faculty Senate, Deans and Associate Deans, General Counsel, and University Leadership
