Job Summary:
Directs the planning, operation and supervision of a musical instrument shop including all aspects of instrument maintenance and repair. Assists in the development and management of the unit budget. Directs purchases and making of equipment and tools. Creates and implements maintenance plans. Updates inventory, assesses instrument conditions, and manages instrument purchases, donations, and sales.

Job Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages the tuning, placement, repairing and rebuilding of instrument inventory
- Assists in the development and management of the unit or program budget and approves expenditures
- Maintains inventory and service database, assess instrument conditions and expectations to ensure each instrument meets the needs of faculty and students
- Receives requests for instrument services; advises, schedules, and assigns work as needed
- Serves as the main point of contact and subject matter expert for faculty and staff to develop and implement strategies for maintaining and building instrument inventory
- Directs and manages instrument purchases, maintenance, development of equipment, tools, and parts, donations, loans and leases, vendor rebuilding and repairs, and sales
- Supervises, plans, and directs operational activities of the unit
- May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
- Serves as the main point of contact to maintain building temperature and humidity control
