    Acquires and develops high-quality book projects and maintains the list of publications. Inspires, mentors, and leads acquisitions staff and supervises departmental operations.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Meets or exceeds acquisition goals
    • Develops and expands a professional network to identify potential authors, editors, and reviewers
    • Works with authors, series editors, press colleagues, and others to conceptualize and develop projects into successful books
    • Evaluates book proposals and manuscripts with an eye towards improvement and fit
    • Provides editorial vision and competitive strategies to maintain and increase the quality and reputation of the list of publications
    • Leads long-range planning for expansion and/or refinement of the list of publications
    • Leads a department consisting of professional staff and student positions
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
