Job Summary:
Provides active and visionary leadership as well as day to day management of all aspects of the activities of a publisher of scholarly and regional books and journals.

Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees long-range strategic planning to ensure the highest standards of scholarly publishing, including technical innovation and infrastructure improvements, as well as the long-term financial health of the press
- Leads a staff engaged in the process of acquiring, editing, designing, typesetting printing, marketing, promoting, and selling books and journals as they deal with complex issues having multiple touchpoints and stakeholders
- Develops strategies for utilizing emerging and existing technologies to meet demands of authors, editors, readers, and publishers of content in both print and digital formats. Manages and prioritize goals that fulfill the mission of the UW Press.
- Represents Press interests on campus and actively seek partnerships with other units engaged in scholarly communication
- Represents Press interests and maintain Press's reputation within the scholarly publishing community
- Establishes and sustains contacts with potential donors; seek non-sales sources of revenue to further Press's mission and activities
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
