  • Job Summary:
    Develops pharmacy strategic plan and budget, establishes operational standards and protocols for pharmacy services, and supervises staff to ensure proper pharmacy functionality, support patient treatment, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan
    • Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
    • Directs the computerized billing for pharmacy and budgeting and assists in designing and updating computerized record keeping and billing systems
    • Manages pharmaceutical inventory and assesses needs, develops bid list, and recommends manufacturers and suppliers to implement a cost-effective pharmaceutical program
    • Reviews changes in legislation pertaining to program issues and implements changes in pharmacy services as required
    • Serves as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders and leadership providing information and representing the interests of the unit
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
    • Dispenses medications, educates patients, and acts as a resource for prescribers
    • Develops and monitors budget
