  • Job Summary:
    Supervises staff, plans and controls lab resources, reports results, and manages testing services for the environmental toxicology department. Serves as a subject matter technical expert and scientific leader to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Develops, performs, and interprets environmental toxicology tests or assays to ensure quality results
    • Reviews analytical work and provides advice on technical difficulties
    • Monitors scientific reporting to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
    • Oversees schedules of operational work plans for a specialized technical laboratory area
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
    • Develops operating policies and laboratory procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives to ensure quality control
    • Oversees the inspection, maintenance, and repairs of equipment and instrumentation to ensure optimal and safe operation
    • Identifies, develops, and facilitates unit staff training opportunities
    • Contributes to the development of the relevant science through professional association conference attendance, presentations, and participation
    • Serves as a technical subject matter expert and unit liaison to stakeholders, disseminates information, and answers questions from constituents as needed
