Job Summary:
Directs overall operations and administration of a clinical/diagnostic laboratory with institutional recognition and scope, including the employment of personnel. Records and reports test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently and ensures compliance with applicable regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates programs and policies in the laboratory to identify improvements and efficiencies to ensure a high level of service
- Plans staff implementation of protocols and on-going quality review of laboratory services
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- Develops and monitors the laboratory budget and reviews and approves expenditures
- Analyzes portfolios and accounts, solicits internal and external opportunities, promotes capabilities, and makes recommendations to leadership for strategic enhancements
- Compiles, audits, and documents data to ensure necessary compliance with institutional policies and procedures
- Leads, develops, and evaluates teaching, training, and outreach activities. May serve on national and public health committees
