Job Summary:
Leads and manages the core functions of the Grants and Contracts unit including proposal review and submission, contract negotiations and administration, award set-up, and award terms and conditions. Provides leadership to the university on grants and contracts services and establishes policies and procedures related to the administration of research.

Job Responsibilities:
- Directs and coordinates strategic planning, staff, systems, and procedures related to pre-award research administration
- Contributes to the development of policy related to sponsored programs activities on campus
- Ensures institutional compliance with federal regulations, sponsor terms and conditions, state law, UW system, and campus requirements for budget preparation, proposal submission, agreement negotiation, and compliance
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- Collaborates across disciplines and functional areas by building relationships between internal campus contacts responsible for research administration and external stakeholders
- Ensures institutional rules and regulations related to sponsored programs are followed
- Establishes, implements, and maintains institutional policies and procedures related to pre-award administration
