Job Summary:
Responsible for directing the activities of the journals publishing division of the university press. Provides strategic vision, interacts directly with a range of stakeholders, directs unit operations, develops policies and procedures, and supervises staff to ensure journals acquisition, distribution, and marketing.

Job Responsibilities:
- Directs journals publishing strategic planning initiatives to identify and comply with rapidly changing publishing technologies and trends within scholarly journal publishing as well as a wide range of industry standards
- Directs staff and develops operating policies and procedures related to publishing scholarly journals, including subscription management, copyediting, licenses and permissions, typesetting and production, marketing and promotion
- Develops journals acquisition strategy including identifying, recruiting, and onboarding new journals
- Develops and monitors unit budget, approves unit expenditures, drafts annual reports for both internal and external dissemination, and actively seeks strategies to improve financial return
- Serves as primary liaison to external journal owners and editors, representing the needs and priorities of the UW Press
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
