  • Job Summary:
    Leads the planning and design for the university's built environment, including development and implementation of the campus master plan. Oversees facility planning and design activities, including design development of new buildings as well as additions and modifications to existing buildings. Provides direction, technical expertise, and assistance to building programs and establishes and evaluates appropriate standards for facility planning, design, construction, and related services. Supervises staff and coordinates the long-range planning, programming, cost estimation, and technical assistance required to develop and implement the budget.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Serves as campus steward of architectural, environmental, archeological, and land resources in support of the institution's academic and strategic objectives
    • Represents the institution's diverse interests to internal and external stakeholders while seeking the most appropriate solutions to physical environment problems
    • Ensures that all campus development plans recognize, preserve, and maintain the character and viability of heritage buildings and historical cultural landscapes
    • Maintains and improves environmental quality through the development and use of sustainable design practices
    • Advances campus development in a manner consistent with institutional plans, goals, and objectives
    • Evaluates projects for adherence to planning principles, design criteria and standards, and technical design standards
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

    Fulfills all requirements as an Architect as outlined by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services: https://dsps.wi.gov/Pages/Professions/Architect/Default.aspx Required
