Job Summary:
Supervises athletic training staff members and/or manages health care program, provides health care, evaluates illness andinjuries, consults with team physicians and/or healthcare professionals, referrals for patients in support of injury care and injury prevention, guides policy development, and evaluates unit productivity to ensure quality control of sports medicine care delivery.

Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, provides treatment and rehabilitation, and documents injuries/illnesses in consultation with health care professionals and in accordance with established practices, guidelines, and protocols
- Coordinates patient care, makes referrals to various medical resources, and provides information basedon injury/illness evaluations in collaboration with medical professionals
- Serves as an onsite health care provider for assigned teams during practices and/or competitions, recreational play, or special events to ensure adequate treatment of injuries/illness and appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency situations
- Advises, develops, and implements plans for injury and illness prevention, emergencies, and environmental monitoring to ensure safety of participants during practices, recreational play,events, and competitions
- Implements and monitors operating policies and procedures and trains staff to ensure compliance with established practices, guidelines, and protocols
- May have oversight and coordination of health care programming that provides health care to identified patient populations
- May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
