Job Summary:
This title is used for current high school or middle school students participating in a program that is designed to familiarize them with research and the University in general. The students typically are under the supervision of a faculty or academic staff mentor who is matched to the student's academic interest. They may attend weekly seminars, lectures, tours, and/or may participate in tasks related to their learning experience, e.g., one-on-one instruction and communication. Instruction in basic skills may be provided. If a pre-college intern is paid on an NIH miniority high school student research apprentice grant, s/he must be salaried (hourly, academic or annual basis). If not paid on an NIH grant, either lump sum or salaried basis may be used.
